WASHINGTON—Statement of AFT President Randi Weingarten on Attorney General Jeff Sessions:

"Jeff Sessions must immediately resign if he knowingly and purposefully misled the American people during his confirmation hearing. Sessions is the chief law enforcement officer of the United States, and he, more than others, should understand the consequences of lying or misrepresenting, particular while under oath. This is the latest in a series of egregious allegations concerning connections between Trump campaign and administration officials and Russia. The people deserve a full and independent investigation into all of these allegations."
